Student Employee Feedback

Page history last edited by Baynard 15 years, 4 months ago

This is a record of feedback from student employees regarding the training module. Some feedback is my best recollection of a conversation; some is from email or the surveys. I was touched by their responses and level of involvement.

Pre-Training Survey

This seems like a good way to get some numbers Baynard. / Will help us focus our efforts in training! -Winston '11

I've never uploaded an .html to my student webpage but I betcha I could do it. - Jane '11

TRAINING outside of work hours at the beginning of the year and/or workshops we are required to attend as part of the job but are paid for would be really helpful - Kelsey '12

I think I understand most of what the cloisters offers, but only understand the graphic design and video (I'm working on learning more about final cut pro) programs well. I would like to know at least the basics for web design and sound. - Mariko '11

Phase I

"DYSTOPIAN SOUNDSCAPE ATTACHED"  - Winston '08

"I had a lot of fun doing this!" - Manasi '12

"Here's my sound clip.  It's pretty fun  messing around with Audacity." - Marshall '12

"It was good to have a focused assignment. It's only when you need to make something that you actually learn it." - Andrea '08

"It was helpful to have a structured assignment, so I knew what to do." - Brittany '09

"Hey baynard, it's ling here.  Obama won the election!!!  okay here's my sound bite using audacity:" - Ling '12

"Voila" - John '11

"I hope you like Muse." - Stacey '09

Phase II

"These videos are a great way to teach people. That guy (Cristian) is a great speaker." - Nick '11

"Here is the Illustrator poster. Enjoy the poetry :)" - Jane & Mariko '11

"You are so good at making those videos." - Madison '11

Sorry it took me so long to do this...i've been super busy! This poster is certainly not the best poster ever made but I know much more about how to do things in illustrator now and have a better sense of how to help people. "- Kelsey '12

"(best ever) cheese poster" - Brittany '09

"These training modules were .. like.. a really good idea."  - Jane

"Stick with the 'how-to'."- Stanton

"The timing was perfect, I could do everything along as he was talking."

Phase III

"Dear Baynard,/This module is awesome./Happy sat," Kyle

Phase IV

"I love the Media Cloisters for real." - Madison '11

"Thanks for making the last one short." - Jonny '11

"I guess this is a good way for people to learn things, by forcing them to make stuff."  - Winston '09

"The Illustrator one was really good for me because I basically didn't know anything about Illustrator." - John '11

"It was good to get a little bit of everything." - Marshall '12

"Nice flip transition. That was sweet!" - Lorraine '10

Post-Training Survey

"Awesome job! Next step = advanced training modules. Also, module on SCANNING and best settings/way to save." - Brittany '09

"As I've told you throughout, I thought these training modules were a great way to get hands on experience with some of the cloisters' most popular programs. Adding ones for photoshop and garageband might be a good next move.  / Thanks again,  - Nick '11

"You'll notice I've disagreed with the comments about web design confidence... that's probably due in part to the fact that I haven't gotten around to the fourth tutorial yet!  Sorry!  I've been writing huge final papers and will do it within the next couple days, promise." - Tom '10

"I really appreciated the training modules. They weren't too in depth, but I now have the basic skills in all of our programs to at least direct patrons in the right direction. Definitely a good addition to cloisters staff training." - Marshall '12

"Now we can all be fancy boys and girls!" - Jane '11 (allusion to the graphic design lecture)

"Doing this at the beginning of the year would be better timing, and help new staff get started." - Andrea '09

"I learned a lot. Thanks!"  - Mariko '11

"A tutorial on troubleshooting all these programs would be helpful. Also. buddying trainees with more experienced workers at the beginning of the year for training time would be a good idea. But overall the tutorials were helpful and a very good tool." - Kelsey '12

"We love modules." - Lorraine '10

"Did not complete the web training yet. The modules were scheduled very close to one another. A bit of time between them could have helped. Other than that I thought this was a great training program." - Joseph '11

"Very valuable Baynard. Task-based training is a good way to get people to realize that these programs aren't as hard as they thought. Sorry about my super late submission." - Winston '09
